The Double Speak of Security

thechicken

Nice little piece of PR stupidity at IT News as Microsoft finally push out an update to disable AutoRun in Windows XP. Being a security issue they can’t just state the truth so instead they trotted out this lovely load of double speak.

AutoRun isn’t an accident - it’s a feature.

Therefore it can’t be a bug.

So the update is rated “Important, non-security update”.

Because we found viruses were exploiting it.

Kudos for finally killing a “feature” they should have thought through a lot harder in the beginning. Rubber Chicken award for the cowardice of how they did it and for not doing it years ago.
