All things being equal

equality

Whenever you read this phrase, note it well. Whether it’s in a financial commentary or a technical review. Because in the real world, the world in which you are I live and breath and have our being, it’s almost never true. Things are almost never equal. If life teaches us one thing, observe that movement is life. Only dead things don’t move. As it is with life so it is with thinking and so any proposition made with the proviso that all other things must remain equal is almost by definition inapplicable to the real world.
