If the Numbers are to be believed

There have been many articles posted online about the exhaustion of the IPV4 ethernet address space. The transition to IPV6 is designed to provide relief. Its worth just taking a minute to think about what’s going on out there in internet world.
The following article The Internet is Ridiculously Huge , provides one perspective on the numbers whilst probably not that accurate it does however provide an interesting frame for trying to gain a view/perspective on the size of the internet.
In addition, if you also take the numbers given my Paul Otellini in a recent article found here . In this article he quoted the following:
“”In 2010, total traffic crossing the Internet was 245 exabytes. This is greater than all of the previous years combined. Over the next five years, over a billion more people will join the global online community with 15 billion new connected devices, including PCs, smartphones, tablets, embedded devices, and smart TVs. We estimate this will increase the data footprint across the internet to over 1,000 exabytes,” he said.
One things for sure. More devices, more connections, more traffic, and more IP in our lives.
I wonder what the security implications are………..more hackers……………… perhaps.
Something to think about.
