In the Name of Security

Two weeks ago, Janet Napolitano, Secretary of US Homeland Security announced new full body X-ray machines (porn scanners) will be deployed at 28 international airports in the US. The larger plan is to deploy 450 porn scanners in 2010.
This is of concern for Australian’s because successive Australian governments have shown an extraordinary willingness to do whatever the US does regardless of differences in local circumstances.
In response to criticisms, the Transport Security Administration (TSA) have long claimed on their web site, in videos and press statements that images taken from porn scanners cannot be stored on the machines therefore no concern is warranted.
This week, in a Florida district court, the US Marshals office admitted it had achieved the IMPOSSIBLE and had, in fact, stored over 35,000 images from a single porn scanner.
With the cat now totally out of the bag, TSA spokes woman Sari Koshet told CNET the scanners at airports were delivered with the previously claimed not-to-exist recording capabilities turned off. “We’re not recording them,” she said. “I’m reiterating that to the public. We are not ever activating those capabilities at the airport.”
Some how, I’m not feeling any level of comfort from Ms Koshet’s prophetic assertions.
The final twist of the knife, the crowning turd on the dunghill of lies, is the constant assertion that it’s all about security. So in the name of security some time soon I will likely have to endure perverts ogling my naked bollocks every time I travel through an Australian International airport.
