Exinda Update

I work by an old adage, which I’ve found to be very true. You can’t fix what you can’t see. So it beats me why people don’t buy more of this Exinda stuff. For those who hate groping around like a idiot in the dark, a new version of firmware.

It’s version 5.4.0.13350 and it’s good for: 1010, 1060, 2000, 2060, 4000, 4060, 5000, 6000, 6010, 6060, 7000, 8060.

Some of the tasty new morsels I like are;
Per IP/User QoS
Allows users to allocate bandwidth on a per IP basis, so controls can be applied to individual users. It’s fully compatible with AD, so you can now apply it to Users or Groups.

Virtual Circuit filtering
Circuits can now be defined by Application and VLAN Objects in addition to the traditional approach of filtering by Network Object.

Application Acceleration Improvements
Significant performance and scalability improvements have been made in this release. The number of connections and throughput have increased by up to 3 times (compared to 5.3) while also making better use of system resources.

HTTPS/SSL Inspection and Monitoring
The engine can now inspect HTTPS domains from certificates, allowing you to create custom L7 apps using that SSL signature/site. This also provides the ability to now block secure anonymous proxies.

Plus, as they say in sales, “much, much more”. But no steak knifes, we’re all out.
