Paris bank robbery

An interesting footnote to Jeremy Clarksons observations of a security guard ‘defending’ the Sydney Harbour Bridge. This mornings Sydney Morning Herald reports robbers ransacked a Parisian bank vault.

Like the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Credit Lyonnais (LCL) branch on Avenue de l’Opera in Paris, employed a security guard.

“The branch itself was closed for renovations, but a security guard who heard noises from the basement was confronted by three individuals, who overpowered him, lashed him to a chair and ordered him not to move.”

Gosh!

The guard appears to have been no deterrent at all.

Still, maybe the circumstances were different. Maybe he didn’t have a high visibility vest.
